An 11 PM journal
A cup-filling evening I wanted to share with you all. Thoughts on Substack and my outfit for an intimate soirèe.
I had no intention of sending out a newsletter tonight. In fact, I am a little behind on things at the moment, so I’ve felt a little frozen in terms of content with everything going on. What I’ve learned over time is the less you think, the better it goes. So I’m not going to overthink this one. I had one of the most lovely evenings I’ve had in a while- it most definitely prompted me to jet home, open my laptop, and start writing at 10:23 PM on a Wednesday.
Tonight, I attended an intimate
event co-hosted by , , and (three awesome women I admire) at Marlien’s beautiful home. An amazing group of women gathered and it was so exciting to meet so many new faces, and reconnect with friends I haven’t seen in a while. I know I always share how much I adore this platform and how amazing it feels to connect more closely with my community (all of you), but tonight really made me feel proud and grateful. I couldn’t believe I was sitting amongst some of the most impressive women, across so many industries (fashion, beauty, interiors, culinary, etc).We went around the room and shared a little something about ourselves and our connection to Substack. Some women: legitimate (and very talented) writers and editors who have migrated over to Substack, others: content creators that recently started sharing on here, and even some founders and creators who haven’t dabbled with the platform just yet. When it was my turn, I shared about my uncle being an early champion of Substack and encouraging me to own my own space where I could reach and connect with my audience on a deeper level. I also shared how much I enjoy writing here since I’m not a real writer- you can make this anything you want and there are truly no rules. I loved hearing about everyone’s unique relationship with this space and all of the opportunity and creativity that flows on this platform.
I have to be up early to head into the office, so I’ll wrap it up. Hope you enjoyed this little snippet of my evening. And I sincerely hope the typos and grammatical errors are not too embarrassing when I re-read this in the AM.
As a Substack reader, how are you enjoying the platform? Anything you’d like to see more of on Substack in general? I am so happy to have you here and, as always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
The perfect example of why I love Substack is that post about your Chanel beauty favorites. It’s not just rapid fire links, it’s the sentimental story behind it. I just loved it. That’s what I adore seeing on this platform, and what has me checking it in lieu of other social media.
I love the community of kind women I've found and connected with here! Jealous that there's such a lovely community in LA—the one thing I'll say is that I haven't found my Substack people in Colorado. They seem to be coastal, I wonder why... ;)
