Let's talk bags
Reviewing my own collection, as well as some bags I've been fawning over. An edit that includes high + low, luxury options for every day this FW.
A few of you requested a bags review + round up! So let’s talk about the bags I own + and some bags I’d recommend if you’re in the market for one. I’ll go through some under $1,000 options, as well as the splurges. Spoiler alert: going to share about a bag purchase I could have maybe done without..
MY BAGS (some of my favs)
I will start with saying, my bag collection has grown over the last year, which has been super exciting and fun. I feel very lucky and honored that some of the bags have been gifted. Before garnering some of these new, shiny bags, were bags I was passed down from family, or found second hand- and honestly, they are still the most prized in my collection! When sharing this type of content, I never want to make anyone feel like they NEED a bunch of designer bags, that’s not my MO. I would love to be able to help you decide what might be a good investment bag for you + your needs.
My most worn bag is hands down this crossbody. I did a very in depth review of it here on TikTok. I love this bag. It’s perfect for draping over any outfit, and even fits over big coats in the winter time. Things to note: I explained in my TikTok that it truly is one large sack- there is not much organization inside, if any. So if that’s not your vibe, maybe this isn’t the bag for you. I personally love the softness of the leather and I’m not afraid to wear it! That’s the beauty of wearing leather and forming a natural patina- think of it like a slab of Arabescato marble and the way it wears. It’s a hobo style, so easy to dress up or down, with the option to wear as a chic long shoulder bag.
Last summer, I pulled the trigger on this Dragon Diffusion bag! Two of my most FAQ on this bag: “Do you still like it?” and “Do you care that you can’t put it over your shoulder?” The answers are yes and no. I do still love it! I think it’s a great bag that is a little more elevated than carrying a basket, which is my usual bag of choice in the summer. I don’t mind the shoulder component because I treat it as a top handle bag and rest it on my elbow, I personally love the look of styling a bag that has a handle- it feels like you’re not thinking too much about it- a grab and go if you will. I also love the price point for how amazing the quality is.
If you’re looking for a smaller bag that has shoulder wear capabilities, I highly recommend this bag from The Row. The size is very nice and it’s very comfortable as a shoulder bag, as well as a top handle carrier. I scored it in this gorgeous deep red color. They also offer it in a massive version, which is lovely for my girls who love a capacious bag for everyday wear. It’s slouchy, which I love. For a more affordable bucket style like this, I swear by this J.Crew bucket bag!
Speaking of capacious bags, I recently got this one that is truly massive. It fits everything you can imagine (and yes, it fits a laptop) and still looks structured. It’s very sleek and I loved using it as a carry on as well.
Earlier this year, I got the Bottega Jodie bag. I had always wanted a mini Bottega pouch- I had this idea in my head that when I got to be able to buy myself one, it meant something big. I went into the store to try some on and fell in love with the suede on the Jodie, instead. I decided to move forward with this exact suede one! I thought this would be my favorite bag of all time, but the truth is- I don’t reach for it as much. I’m not sure if it was because it’s a super popular bag (sometimes I prefer not going for the IT thing).. or maybe because of the suede! The handle has already got some signs of wear because of natural oils from your skin transferring while holding it. Might have been worth doing a suede/leather protector on it prior to wearing, but whatdoIknow? Also, your phone can fit it it, but it is a pain to take it in and out. All this to say, I don’t regret getting it, but I think it was slightly impulsive, and kind of scarred me because I am already an anxious shopper- I have a very hard time committing to items and making a final decision- super indecisive. Next time, I think I might go try on multiple times or go for something less trendy.
Now, let’s get into some bags that have caught my eye.. Some I’ve loved for a long while, and some are newer on the scene.
UNDER $1,000
My favs from this round up include:
This affordable crossbody find that emulates my Khaite August Hobo
The boat tote that garnered quite a bit popularity over the last couple years. I wear this to work more often than any other bag. I own the natural on natural medium size- it’s perfect and not too fancy- perfect for the over-thinker
SPLURGE BAGS
I cannot stop thinking about this top-handle bag from the splurge collage. It’s so fabulous- I am super into the new Bottega Andiamo bags. I am truly having a love affair with all handle bags lately, so I wanted to round up a few that I think are worth checking out. I had to include some splurge crossbody bags. I included 3(!!!) from one of my favorite Parisian brands. My aunt owns it, and I can attest that it is a great option for an everyday bag.
Maybe next time I’ll add in some more statement, vintage and evening bags! Let me know!
