Two surprise Substacks in one week?! Who am I? Coming to you live post concert (hence the name of this ‘stack) and sharing what I wore tonight- well last night by the time you’re reading this!
I get asked almost every time I do a Q+A, “what do I wear to ‘xyz’ concert?”. Unless it’s the Taylor Swift concert, I am always wearing some combination of the outfit I wore last night: jeans, a tee or tank, a fun jacket (usually leather), and your choice of boots or sneakers. Call me boring, but I always feel so confident when I have something like this on.
When I was about to get dressed for the evening, I was not feeling anything in my closet and super uninspired. I usually just want to be comfortable for a concert, especially for dancing and walking long strides purposes. I tried on a couple pairs of blue jeans, hoping they’d help me decide. I didn’t want to look like I was just going to the office, though. I ripped those off and threw them onto a building pile on the floor with “no’s”.. and decided to go for these Levi’s and this cropped white tank. Then, it was time to finish the outfit. I went to over to my jackets and stared for a bit.. I have this sickening vintage Celine, 3/4 sleeve leather jacket that is just my fav.. but I was nervous it might read too fall. Well, it didn’t at all, especially with the off-white under.
I grabbed my new Rooni necklace to complete it, made with butter jasper beads.. yes, butter jasper- doesn’t that sound magical? All I’ve been wearing are my black sambas (in stock), so those made the cut last night.. and worked well to sandwich the outfit with the darker jacket and ecru jeans.
One category that deserves some attention in my closet.. a tiny concert bag. Will be looking for something and will share my finds.
Oh! And.. we saw Jungle- they were.. fricken groovy. That’s the first word that came to me because I truly felt like I was in a time machine to the 70s. They were incredible live and we did not stop dancing! Before the concert at the Forum, we stopped at LA Ale Works close by and they had the most delicious wood-fired pizza truck- it was deeelish. I’ll tag them on my insta! Had to share:
So.. there you have it! My foolproof concert outfit story. Another lesson to not overthink or try to reinvent the wheel, especially when you’re late and your boyfriend is saying “the Uber is 5 min away!!”. Wear what you feel best in- most confident in.
PS: Thank you all so much for your notes on my last substack.. I couldn’t believe how much you guys liked that one! I’m so glad and hope to continue to do more of this. I appreciate your feedback always!!
