Re: Spring Dressing
What I'm excited to style, Still Here SS24, white bras, casual bags and jewels.. for spring!
With spring style on everyone’s lips, I knew it was time to give my two cents. Nothing here will be groundbreaking, but just some things I’m into styling this spring/ summer. A lot of carry over from the last few years, so some of it won’t be new! Which I think is a good thing. I try to pay close attention to a few of my favorite brands during new season shopping and pick a couple things that give my wardrobe a little refresh, without going crazy on a bunch of new stuff.
Wearing
One of the first things I was coveting for spring: a good jacket. Still Here NYC just launched their new SS24 collection and it is, by no surprise, FAB. I don’t have to convince any of you about my love for the brand (proof here), but this new collection is the sole moment inspiring me re: spring dressing. My favorite piece from the entire collection is this utility-style Arcade Jacket with a red collar. Immediately upon unboxing it, the unique hardware zipper is what caught my eye. Such a cool touch.
When thinking about styling the jacket, I went for bike shorts. It felt fun to elevate something very casual with a fun jacket. I like the contrast of the black with the white, too.
On the other end of the style spectrum, I wanted to elevate the jacket, so I added this last season Khaite skirt (size 2 left here on sale) with a heel and I’m ready for a night out.
A couple years ago, I wore a white bra for the first time in years. I used to feel embarrassed of my bra straps and hated when they showed. The white strap changed that for me. I’ve worn this one for a while, but needed something without a logo across the straps, so I just ordered this one. I’m tempted to also order this gorgeous satin bra. I love when the straps show and the contrast of white with my top, especially when I have a tan.
Overalls, styled high and low, are just lovely. I’m wearing these Still Here Mississippi Overalls over swim to the beach, but also with a blazer to the office and a lunch date.
To keep me focused, I’ve started making a list of spring + summer pieces I’d like to have in my closet. Stay tuned for what I find in all of these categories! A big spring cleaning of my closet is underway and another SS24 Substack is in order.
I’ve already done a dedicated column about my love for wearing black in the summer, so add that to this list.
Accessories
In the spring, I’m all about a fun and easy bag that we can throw around and carry with us any time, anywhere. Some bags for your consideration:
I recently stopped someone with this Herve Chapelier mini bag. It is adorable and the perfect little bag for spring. You can get yours online here or in Paris if you’re lucky enough to be traveling there soon!
Similar to the bag above, I’m obsessed with these vintage belt handle totes I found on Free People. I think it’s fun that they are all unique and the handle color is a bit of a lottery.
Basket bags: my personal bag of choice in the spring. I get mine from a lovely vendor at the flea markets in LA. This one is very similar, and I like the rectangle shape of this one.
I’ve been loving this Parker Thatch camel suede bag. It is perfectly slouchy and easy to carry everywhere. I think I need to spray it with some suede protector to maintain the richness in color and avoid getting it all dirty.
L.L. Bean Boat Tote of course, in all sizes, but I am carrying the small this spring and summer. How to order mine: select the “name” option and enter one letter in the “thin script”. Color is dark brown.
Shoes wise, you’ll most often catch me in Havaianas. I think these JH ballet flats are glued to me at this point and I’m eying her new lace up version in soft white.
I shared the Adidas SL 42 in my Insta dm channel right when they dropped, so I hope some of you were lucky enough to scoop them. I waited too long! More sizes in the red here and here.
I’ve wanted these Row Tyler suede oxfords forever, but I couldn’t justify the price. Fully in stock here in Ash. Zara savagely (not surprisingly) released an exact copy of them. Has anyone tried? I’m tempted- I can’t lie!
Loving these flat suede mules. Under $150.
My summer jewelry game hasn’t changed much since I was in college. I love wearing my pearls in the warmer months (who doesn’t?), so I will start bringing those pieces out of my jewelry box soon. One of my favorites: my flat freshwater pearl bracelet I got made at The Jewelry Stand in Maui in 2019. My boyfriend’s mom noticed how much I loved the coin pearls, so she gifted me the bracelet. It is so special to me! I was delighted to see that the stand has opened a new shop in Maui and I found my exact bracelet on their website. Here’s a similar option on Etsy.
Starling beaded necklaces and Starling pearls are also perfect for the season (my Starling code always: GABS10). Rooni necklaces are always so fun to jazz up an outfit.
Every summer, my cousin and I compete to see whose bracelet stack is cooler. She easily wins because she goes to Greece every summer and the bracelets are the best there. I’ll attach a pic of her stack below for reference. This gold bracelet is launching next week at Starling and I think it is really about to up the ante on my bracelet stack.
Talk to you soon!
I have those Zara Row Tyler dupes! They're surprisingly good!
saw that @thejewelrystandmaui’s original brick & mortar was obliterated in the Lahaina fires—a gorgeous piece regardless but extremely pleased to support a recovering business. thank you for sharing 💕
