What I'm eying/buying for Spring Summer 2023
We took it to a poll on my insta stories and you guys wanted to see what I've been buying/eying for SS23! So happy to share some of these new additions to my closet as well as my greater wishlist.
About twice a year, I write up a list in my notes app that keeps me organized when shopping for the upcoming change of seasons. I draft the lists by adding in what my closet is in need of (I like to call these my closet gaps), while also incorporating some updates on pieces I already own and love that may need a refresh. I’m excited to give you a little insight into how my brain is viewing spring + summer shopping. Welcome to my world of run on sentences and maybe-not-the-best-writing.. but I promise, I’m trying!
Making these lists can help in not going overboard with new season shopping and truly curate your wardrobe in a thoughtful way. I never like to buy a ton of things at once. I prefer to buy things slowly and really pay attention to what I’m adding in and investing in. The key is to make sure the things you buy marry well into your personal style (and prevent buyer’s remorse). I also like the lists because I can see the full landscape of when it might be a good opportunity to save or splurge.
Soo.. without further ado.. here’s some things I’ve been buyin + eyin!
Buying: I really wanted to focus on the larger gaps with my initial scores for early Spring. I decided to start with items that I was having trouble making outfits without to achieve the certain styling I wanted.
I was in desperate need of a versatile maxi skirt. This White Maxi Skirt is sooo good. I love how long it is. I like it even with a super cropped top for summer. I’ve styled it like this + like this so far.
This Denim jacket from H+M was a score. It looks designer! I took my true size for a more fitted look. I love styling the collar up.
Wanted something other than jeans, but as casual as jeans. Light, casual cargos - these are a bit of a splurge via Mytheresa. I have already got so much wear out of them, so I would say they are as worth it to me as another pair of denim (which you know is my kryptonite…)
Square toe Havaianas - these are a fun switch up from the regular ones that are a staple in my closet for the last decade
New birks - a go-to sandal of mine is the Birkenstock Arizona. I had worn the same pair for 3-4 years, so it was time for a new pair!
Red leather slides by The Row. I had been wanting more red leather for the season and these were the perfect addition and so easy to add to any summer fit.
I got these gorg Freda flats and they don’t feel too girly for my personal style. they’re so well made and comfy! Weren’t too bad to break in, either. (my code is GABS15)
Sneakers - needed a pair that were a hybrid of street shoe and actual trainer, and I love how I can do these with a real outfit or a workout set and it works!
Undergarments for different scenarios via SKIMS - I’ve been getting some different things from them in lighter shades and darker too so I’m covered whatever the outfit might be.
I will always adore Janessa Leone because the hats are stunning and so well made. This Sunhat I just picked up has officially earned it’s place as the fav from my collection (I have 4 hats, I’m kind of a JL hoarder!) Mainly because it is sooo easily packable!
More silver. I love my sterling silver pieces from Liè Studio + this amazing Etsy shop I found. Also, don’t sleep on vintage silver pieces- I always find at flea markets around LA :)
Sequinnnsssss - obsessed with this Mango dress I just got with sheer lining! I sized up. (also perfect for as Tswift Eras Tour outfit)

Eying: The eying section includes things I’m lusting over as well as the gaps I feel that I still have in my closet! I’d love to focus on some more “low” pieces since I’ve done a lot of “high” shopping early on in the season. Really going to try and hunt and do some thrifting, regular TheRealReal scans, vintage flea marketing, and shop on favs like Mango, H+M, and COS.
Sheer/light sweaters - loving this one from J. Crew
More silk/chiffon/ organza/ sheer textiles
vintage dresses, skirts, tanks (think 90s Prada )
I’ve found some great things from Zara + Mango with this vibe too this year! I always share these weekly finds on my Instagram monthly link highlights
New batch of tanks + tees (love the Redone tank I just got and need some fresh Michael Stars tees)
Black Maxi skirt - maybe linen? Linen is always a good idea lol
Tops - not my strong suit! But I’d like to add in some more tops that are easy and go with different bottoms- nothing too crazy. Will share my finds!
Vintage designer button downs (preferably with some color like this)
Light colored heel / event heel (not black)
Swim (Monday Swimwear, Hunza G, LOF)
Sheer knits
Elevated shorts/mini skirts
Fine jewelry from Starling always .. working at a jewelry brand is a blessing and a curse. Blessing: I stare at gorgeous things all day … Curse: my fine jewelry wishlist is never ending! Linking my updated wishlist here (my code is GABS10!)
A light colored khaki/chino trouser - I like these COS ones
Would also love to get a couple more dresses! Maybe a simple mini and a maxi.
Once I identify some more specific pieces, maybe I’ll make an updated Substack post of what I’m eying and what’s on my wishlist.
I hope you guys enjoyed my first Substack! This was soo fun to work on and it brought me back to 2020 when I started my website and wrote blogs for 0 subscribers. This is a total pinch me moment! Can’t wait to hear what you thought and definitely let me know what you’d like to see me share on here!
Love this newsletter!!
Love all of these recs! I bought those COS pants and love them but they run huge so I need to exchange. I’m hoping I can get a size that works because they feel v $$$!
